چکیده

Streptococcal disease and columnaris are common in tilapia aquaculture across the globe. Coinfections also but often overlooked or not reported. In present study, we describe clinical presentation of streptococcosis coinfection diseased Nile ( Oreochromis niloticus ), phenotypic (Lancefield grouping, hemolytic pattern, biochemical characteristics, antibiotic susceptibility) genotypic (multilocus sequence analysis for streptococci multiplex PCR flavobacteria) characterisation its etiological agents, namely Group C Streptococcus dysgalactiae subsp. equisimilis Flavobacterium davisii . We further fulfilled Koch’s postulates with S. isolate genetically improved tilapia.

Culex flavivirus and West Nile virus mosquito coinfection and positive ecological association in Chicago, United States.

Culex flavivirus (CxFV) is an insect-specific flavivirus globally distributed in mosquitoes of the genus Culex. CxFV was positively associated with West Nile virus (WNV) infection in a case-control study of 268 mosquito pools from an endemic focus of WNV transmission in Chicago, United States. Specifically, WNV-positive Culex mosquito pools were four times more likely also to be infected with C...

Human Streptococcus agalactiae Isolate in Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)

Streptococcus agalactiae, the Lancefield group B streptococcus (GBS) long recognized as a mammalian pathogen, is an emerging concern with regard to fish. We show that a GBS serotype Ia multilocus sequence type ST-7 isolate from a clinical case of human neonatal meningitis caused disease and death in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus).

Francisella tularensis subsp. tularensis Group A.I, United States

We used whole-genome analysis and subsequent characterization of geographically diverse strains using new genetic signatures to identify distinct subgroups within Francisella tularensis subsp. tularensis group A.I: A.I.3, A.I.8, and A.I.12. These subgroups exhibit complex phylogeographic patterns within North America. The widest distribution was observed for A.I.12, which suggests an adaptive a...
